 AVG Antivirus - The best Antivirus software I have ever used, and it's FREE. I recommend turning off periodic scans.

 Google Pack - A lot of useful FREE software.
I recomend Spyware Doctor, Google Earth, Firefox, Picasa, and StarOffice (a great FREE alternative to Microsoft Office).

 Spybot - Good at removing spyware. Don't forget to download the latest update after installing.

 UltraVNC - For remote desktop control like RealVNC but with lots of improvements. Plus it's free.

 Scanner - A nice graphical look at the space on your hard drive. Makes it ease to spot large file and figure out why your hard drive is almost full.

 Process Explorer - Like Windows Task Manager but with more features.

 Hijack This - It a bit raw but a very comprehensive look at your startup and browser items. Great for getting rid on unwanted programs and browser add-ins, if you know what is "unwanted".
